I am currently reading a novel called The Maze Runner. It was written by James Dashner. I am about three fourths of the way through the book. So far, a boy named Thomas was put in an elevator and lifted up into a new world, called the Glade. It was a huge area, surrounded by stone walls, created by people who were testing their abilities. It consists of about 100 boys, that work together to make a world of their own. Thier life consists of escaping the maze. When Thomas arrives, everything seems to be change. Then a girl arrives the day after Thomas. Now, everything bad seems to happen. But, Thomas and the girl start to figure out why and how they are in the Glade. Right now they figure out that there is no escape and the creators are putting more and more challenges on them to see who can survive it. It is almost like a game that the creators have created for them.
I think that it is a very good book, it keeps you interested and wondering.
I think that the purpose of writing this book was too feel a new sense of adventure and interest. It is also about the future and what might happen to the world.
The theme is courage and strength. This book has courage because he is always having to overcome obstacles, and keep going and trying to find a solution to the maze. It is also about strength because he couldn't be where he is without his strength to keep fighting with what is happening with the creators.
My favorite character is the girl, Teresa. She is very funny and bull-headed. She doesn't let anyone boss her around. Even when bad things happen in the Glade, she always fights to try to figure out what to do.
"He wouldn't quit until he solved the puzzle and found a way home." This quote is important because it shows how determined he is, and how his courage and strength could pull him though to the end, till they find a way back home.
I have two question about this book. Why did the creators make the Glade? How are they going to escape?
