Carly Croy: Second Blog 10/22/12
I am currently reading the book Thirteen Reasons Why, and I haven't been reading for awhile because I have been so busy besides what I have done in class and little outside of class. But I am about halfway through the book, and it is just so good. Currently Clay Henson (the main character) is still listening to Hannah Baker's suicide tapes and has just finished the second tape. In this second tape Hannah has found out that the is a per-say, "peeping tom" looking through her windows at night. And her and her friend were gossiping on purpose to grab his attention and saying bad things about people until they caught him right when he would snap a picture. I like this book because once again it is very realistic and funny. The characters so far are Clay Jenson (currently listening to tapes), Hannah Baker (committed suicide and made tapes), a boy name Tyler who is the supposed "peeping tom", and the girl who helped catch Tyler in the act. Her name has not been given yet. The theme of this book is truth and society. Because all the things in this book do happen. And it kind of almost proves to us what is right and wrong throughout our society. A quote from this book is, "Everyone knows you can't disprove a rumor." This quote says to me, that you can't control what people say unless you're completely perfect in anyway and there is nothing bad to say about you. But that's impossible because, nobody's perfect. A question about this book is, when Jay Asher, the author, wrote this book, did he intend on making Clay the biggest and thirteenth reason why Hannah Baker committed suicide?
