Lorin Brokaw's Third Blog About Pretties
I am reading Pretties by Scott Westerfeld. I have read about two thirds of the book. So far Tally has got voted in as a Crim, which is a name for a clique, met someone special named Zane, and took the cure, a pill that makes you bubbly. I think it is good because it's very exciting and has a lot of surprises. The author wrote this because he wanted us to be happy with who we are and about being brave. Tally and Zane where very brave in creating the biggest trick in the world right under Special Circumstances' noses. Tally is the best character because she is the most human pretty in New Pretty Town, and you can relate to her more than other pretties. She has changed a lot because at the beginning of the book all she wants to be is a pretty, but now she realizes that there is more important things than being pretty like thinking for yourself. "You're offering me a . . . job? As a Special?" This quotation is important to the story because now Tally has to decide whether to join the specials, stay a pretty, or go back to the Smoke. It is also a turning point. A question I have is What is becoming of Zane and his headaches?
