I have read Brisinger by Christopher Paolini for my third blog. I finished the book a couple days ago and I liked the whole story again like I did last year. Starting in the book, Eragon is with his cousin Roran and they are rescuing Katrina, who is Roran's bethrothed. The book continues the story with Eragon traveling with the Varden in their campaign to cast down Galbatorix, the evil king.
I think that this series is very good because Paolini does a very good job with writing an action packed, quick-moving, engaging story line that keeps readers engaged and wanting more. I am into fantasy myself, so I enjoy medievel stories with swordfighting, magic, and dragons, all of which are in this book.
I think that Christopher wanted to write this for his family, as it says in the beginning, and for other people who love fantasy as much as he did. I think that the theme is that no matter the odds, with enough determination and courage, you can overcome it. The whole storyline is of freedom fighters pitting themselves against a king who is a Dragon Rider, therefore, very strong in sword fighting and magic, and he has a massive kingdom with thousands of soilders protecting him. Even though they don't have much, the Varden have a Dragon Rider too. Eragon is that rider and in order to beat Galbatorix, he must go through obstacle after obstaacle to overcome this huge challenge.
Eragon is by far the best character. He is a witty, thoughtful, and well-written character. He goes from an ordinary farm boy, to a noble Rider and with it he learns, humility, courtesy, kindness, and becomes increasing thoughtful through out the story.
A quote I found was, "'Accounts of past atrocities are often exaggarated and distorted. That much you should keep in find. No one but your mother knows exactly what she did, nor why, nor how she felt about it, and she is not still among the living to explain herself.'" This is when Oromis, Eragon's teacher, who is also a Rider, tells Eragon about his mother and how she worked for Morzan, who was a servant of Galbatorix. She served as his helping hand and often did terrible things. Stories agbout these events became worse and worse, giving everyone else a bad impression of her. If stories are passed around about someone, they will change and potentially turn negative, which is no fun for the victim of the story. It is also not right, since people will think of that person badly. This is why telling rumors is bad.
I don't have any questions about this book.
